The North Atlantic cold blob puts ocean circulation back under close observation
A subpolar Atlantic region south of Greenland and Iceland is cooling while much of the planet warms. Recent studies link that signal to changes in ocean heat transport and reinforce the need to monitor the AMOC without simplified diagnoses or alarmism.
