Polysmart's Mowe facility is designed to process 100,000 tonnes of bottles and make up to 60,000 tonnes of food-grade rPET a year. These are capacity projections; results depend on collection, quality and markets.
The PPWR sets waste reductions of 5% by 2030, 10% by 2035 and 15% by 2040, alongside recyclability, recycled-content and deposit rules. Industry pressure made the 10% reuse target for takeaway food and drink optional.
Independent tests examine adhesives, labels, closures and other components that can enable or obstruct recycling. The milestone comes before August 12, when the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation will generally begin to apply.
