CONAF examined 708 of the 935 wildfires recorded during the latest regional season with teams deployed across all 32 municipalities. New coordination with prosecutors seeks to turn evidence on causes and patterns into targeted prevention and, where appropriate, stronger criminal cases.
After twelve days of fire, forest and moorland in the Scottish national park were still burning. Three helicopters were dropping about 750,000 liters a day and more than 75 firefighters remained deployed as losses to Caledonian pinewood and wildlife begin a long recovery.
The Government of San Luis deployed a large-scale operation to combat the forest fire that started in Estancia Grande. With the reinforcement of three water-dropping aircraft and the uninterrupted work of firefighters and brigades, they managed to contain the advance of the fire and protect homes. Authorities are investigating the intentional nature of the incident.
